IT may be January, but that’s absolutely no reason to compromise on the laughs. To help you start the New Year with a great big smile on your face, award-winning comedian Sara Pascoe is coming to Guildford as Gag House Comedy Superstarsreturns to G Live on Friday, January 25.
Nominated for best show at the 2014 Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards and winner of the 2014 Chortle Breakthrough Award, Sara Pascoe has been working as a comedy actor, sketch performer, improviser and writer since 2006, when she joined the NewsRevue topical sketch show.
Since then she has appeared in many television programmes and panel shows, including: Stand Up for the Week, The Thick of It, Mock the Week, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, Campus, Being Human, Twenty Twelve, QI, Have I Got News For Youand W1A, as well as all-female sketch show Girl Friday(part of Channel 4’s Comedy Showcase), which she co-wrote.
Simon Evans is a dapper gent with general dislike for the Welsh. And northerners. In fact anything that isn’t his stately manor. But he isn’t one sided; he’s more than happy to rip into himself at the first opportunity. A stalwart of Radio 4 comedy, he has appeared in many episodes of the News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth, Heresy, True Liesand seven series as anchor and principal writer on The Way It Is.
When not performing, Simon plies his trade as a very successful writer. He is a principal writer for Lee Mack’s sitcom Not Going Out, the panel show 8 Out Of 10 Catsand Armando Ianucci’s Charm Offensiveon Radio 4. He has also written jokes for Lee Mack, Dara O’Briain and Sean Lock.
You will also recognise Simon for his appearances on the Michael McIntyre Roadshow, Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Celebrity Mastermindand University Challenge – The Professionals. Simon’s writing credits include The Odd Half Hourand Lee Mack’s recent Radio Two show.
Tom Deacon first picked up the mic in 2007 and became an instant hit winning Chortle’s Student Comedian Award. The following year he appeared as part of the Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Festival and was chosen by BBC Switch to host daily entertainment show 5:19 – featuring comedy sketches, music and celebrity interviews.
Radio 1 came knocking in 2010 and gave him his own Sunday night slot straight after the Chart show, featuring music and chat from celebrity guests. He has continued his stand-up career appearing regularly at the Edinburgh Festival and at gigs all over the country, as well as performing on shows such as The Rob Brydon Showand Dave’s One Night Stand. Tom also fronts YouTube channel Copa 90s show EuroFan.
