HERE to fill your February with a healthy dollop of humour, Guildford Gag House Comedy Club returns to the Back Room of The Star Inn on Saturday, February 17 with an exciting cluster of quick-witted comedians to entertain you.

Roger Monkhouse is one of the most original and distinctive acts on the comedy scene.  A consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience, he is a highly original performer.  Roger’s trademark stage-prowling style and curious, inimitable manner have established him as one of the hottest names on the comedy circuit.

Recent television credits include: The Comedy Store and The World Stands Up (both Paramount), My God I’m My Dad (Bravo) and Street Cred Sudoku (UKG2).  He is one of the regular writers on Channel 4’s hugely popular comedy panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats – responsible for scripting up-to-the-minute topical gags every week for the show. On the airwaves, he was recently a guest panellist on comedy panel show Jest A Minute (BBC Radio Wales) as well as contributing to review show Serious About Comedy (BBC7).

One of the most exciting comics to come out of America, Russell Hicks is branded one of the ‘Top Six Comics to Watch’ by LA’s Stand-Up Talk Magazine.  He has appeared on LA based panel show, Direct TV’s What’s News? and is a regular guest on hit podcasts such as Talkin’ Sh*t with Eddie Ifft.

Headlining the nationally acclaimed student circuit in the United States, Russell regularly takes his hour-long solo shows across the country to the biggest universities.  Prolific and consistently delivering quality new work, audience members are often compelled to return for two nights in a row.  Fast and loose, no two shows are ever the same.

Sam Russell – born in a domestic bathroom, 1989.  At 5 he once did stand-up at a family friend’s birthday and got shouted at for being too mean to the guests.  Traumatised, he took an 18-year gap from comedy.  In 2011, Sam co-founded the improv group, Shoot From The Hip.  Every week they perform a 2 hour show at the Top Secret Comedy Club in Covent Garden and also enjoy their Monday night residency at Angel Comedy.

After starting stand-up in 2014, Sam has become a regular on the London Comedy Circuit, as well as performing around the country and internationally.  He also hosts the political Talk Show, Off The Mic for YouTube.

Tom Houghton has been writing and performing comedy for many years in plays, sketches and musicals.  He has worked the comedy circuit for the last few years with his sharp wit and original comedy songs.

After studying for a Master’s degree in stand-up comedy Tom reached the final of the Paramount Comedy’s Funniest Student competition in 2008. He has been pivotal in pioneering improv in the south east and brings his charming persona and ingenious instant lyrics to the stage.
